Large number of Chinese troops seen heading for China-Vietnam border

A large number of People’s Liberation Army troops have reportedly been spotted heading towards the ChinaVietnam border as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate, reports Hong Kong’s Sing Tao Daily. Sing Tao Daily is generally considered to be aligned to Chinese state media.

Thousands of Chinese nationals living or on business in Vietnam have already fled the country amid anti-China riots, which were sparked by a tense standoff between Chinese and Vietnamese naval ships near a Chinese oil rig in disputed waters off the Paracel Islands in the South China Sea on May 4.

The Chinese foreign ministry confirmed Friday that at least two Chinese nationals have been killed and nearly a hundred were injured during violent protests last week that saw dozens of Chinese, Taiwanese and Hong Kong factories set on fire. The UK’s Guardian claims as many as 21 people have died.

As yet another large-scale anti-China protest was scheduled for Sunday, Chinese netizens reported seeing an “endless stream” of PLA soldiers in full combat gear at Chongzuo train station, apparently on their way to the 97-kilometre China-Vietnam border at Pingxiang city in southern China’s Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region. The soldiers were said to have been accompanied by tanks, armoured vehicles, missile launchers and other heavy artillery.

Pingxiang was where the Sino-Vietnamese War of 1979 began, and locals are reportedly preparing to evacuate the area out of fears of an imminent military conflict.

Last week, Beijing denied that PLA troops had been sent to Guangxi and also denied reports that neighbouring Yunnan province had been put on high alert and escalated to combat readiness levels, but that has not stopped rumours of a military response to the Vietnam riots from continuing.

Update 19th May 2014 – Epoch Times reports:

Troops, tanks, trucks, artillery, and armored personnel carriers of China’s military were seen heading to the Vietnamese border on May 16 and 17, according to photographs taken by by residents near the border.

Chinese netizens have been posting photographs of the large movement of the People’s Liberation Army, many of them showing Chinese troops in full combat gear heading to the local train station in Chongzuo, along with military vehicles.

One netizen said the Chinese military was taking the train from the Chongzuo station to Pingxiang City, which shares a 60-mile border with Vietnam. The netizen said that the Huu Nghi Border Gate to Vietnam is also now closed.

One of the photos, taken from inside a passenger train, shows the Chinese military preparing artillery for transport on a train track. Others show Chinese troops and military vehicles traveling along dirt roads.

Another photograph shows troops walking under the red-colored entrance to the Longzhou International Building Materials Market, on Provincial Road in the city of Chongzuo.

reverse image search of each of the photographs using Google indicated that the photographs had appeared on the Internet only recently. Most were indexed by Google on Saturday.

Collectively, the images and eyewitness reports from the ground show what Taiwanese media are calling an “endless stream” of Chinese troops.

One netizen, with the username Zhiyuan0703, echoed a common sentiment on the Chinese social media site, “Conflict between China and Vietnam is imminent.”

China is currently involved in territorial conflicts with nearly all its neighbours.

Subduing the enemy by stratagem is the best of best; by diplomacy, the second best, by fighting in the field, the third alternative; by attacking cities, the last resort.

–The Art of War by Sun Tzu

Sorry, I am a Chinese but prefer stratagem and diplomacy.I am not responsible for the troops’ movement. In fact, I believe Deng Xiaoping’s war with Vietnam was a stupid mistake.

      • @Chankaiyee2- I appreciate your comments. I hope that someday China can see reason and practice diplomacy. The CCP criticizes the western world for their colonialism and imperialism but at the end of the day acts just like the western world, at least in regards to their immediate neighbors. I for one would be happy if China threw off the chains of the past and came into the future as a true foil for the western powers and the central bankers rather than simply a new imperial master.

      • CHANKAIYEE2: My point is that China now want to invade the neighbors. China refuse going to international courts and don’t respect international law. Chinese want to rule the world by power? If so, we feel so honor to protect our country by any means. It’s a shame that China is the country where Confucianism were born but now they are become invaders and say lie to the world!

      • Hoxudu:

I remain opposed to military solution. I do not believe Chinese or Vietnamese leaders are so stupid as to fight a war for resolution of the disputes. Both sides must be patient to negotiate a solution. Chinese leader has to focus on China’s domestic issues. Tension with Vietnam helps him to rally people around him to deal with domestical issues vital to Chinese Communist Party’s survival; therefore, the troops’ movement aims at easing Chinese people’s anger and scaring Vietnam. China is not strong enough now to start a war in Asia especially due to Powerful US presence.

Vietnam if wants international support, had better resort to international arbitration, though I am not sure Vietnam will win. China bases its claim on history. The nine-dash line exists long before UN Law of Sea Convention. Like all law it has no retrospective effect. Besides, it is an international treaty effective only on those who are parties to the treaty. UN can do nothing if China withdraws from the treaty.

The worst alternative for Vietnam is to seek the US or Japan’s help to incur Chinese people’s enmity. Vietnam will not get real help from them. The obvious trend now is the US will be defeated by China due to its outdated Air-Sea Battle strategy. We are in a space era. China’s strategy of integrated space and sea capabilities is much superior.

I am writing a book on that in the hope that the US will corect its strategy, but I do not think my book will have such big effect. In the face of China’s strategy, Vietnam cannot be a player as it has no space capability.

I hope China will follow its sages’ teachings and be friends with other countries. The possibility is quite big judging by the popularity of Chinese classics in China now. However, I can do nothing but use my pen to support China whne it is correct and denouce it when it commits aggression..

  2. A message from Vietnam, do you know?

Dear peoples of the world – those who love peace,China is violating Vietnam’s sovereignty. They are violating Vietnam’s law as well as UNCLOS 1982 and the United Nations Charter. Therefore, we look forwards to your help to protect our country.

    Dear Chinese people,
In the past, China has been invaded by other countries, so Chinese people also feel the pain and the loss when a foreign country was invaded.I am a child of Vietnam. Certainly you can understand my feelings when our sovereignty is infringed by your army.China has been invaded by other countries, so Chinese people also feel the pain and the loss when a foreign country was invaded. Our nation has experienced many struggles with your country and other empires. We had lost so much. Therefore, we want to live in peace, friendship and cooperation. We always hope that our both countries will follow the desire and achievements that were gained by a great effort of President Ho Chi Minh and President Mao Zedong as well as the predecessors of the two countries. We hope that our country will follow the slogan about friendship that President Ho Chi Minh said, “We are comrades as well as brothers”, as the lyrics of composer Do Nhuan’s song, Vietnam – China: “Vietnam – China, joined by mountains, joined by rivers, sharing Eastern Sea, an friendship, early like the dawn.”I am sure that you also want to live in peace, we do too. War is painful and death. War causes countless families to be in afflictive situations. Our wounds due to wars haven’t been healed. We don’t want to suffer that great pain once more time. However, if that happens, all Vietnamese people are willing to sacrifice once more time to protect our freedom and independence. Our 90 million people are ready to protect our country together.

    • It’s the time that Vietnam must get the return to your worst sin on earth of invasion other neighboring countries such Cambodia.

Vietnam had invaded Cambodia more then 50 years now which has stolen 21 provinces, Prey Nokor from Cambodia where is known as Hochi Ming today.

Vietnam is the worst country of the world to the history. They’ve used all kinds of invaded tricks in order to stronghold their illegal ambitious territory.

Reaching today, Vietnam not just only stole and robbed Cambodia territory and other countries such Lao, but also has controlled those government directly and indirectly since they have left their secret spies in each government as the top officials and high ranking authority. Their ambition is invade and stronghold Cambidia and other neighboring countries 100% as possible as they can.

And now it’s their sin time return. Vietnam will pay even a small piece to their worst sin on earth because they’re the one who created Pol Pot Regime and killed more than 3 million of Khmer People. To the outside look, the world saw that China was behind Khmer Rough to support everything, but in face, Vietnam was the real one who order their secret agents to do everything. They then pretended to fight and damaged Pol Pot regime to rescue Cambodia.

No matter whatever you do, the God is still on the heaven to see your sin. You’ll pay everything even to a pin size. Just wait and see what you’ll get for your ambitious invasion to your neiboring countries.

      >> Cambodia of course now cannot fight you for our freedom and peace, but not sure other powerful countries such China. In short, Sin is Sin; just sooner or later…!

You claim we do invaded tricks – which doesn’t even make sense. However we all get the point. It is a bit ironic though… China is the most shiftiest country ever. Not only in war but in Olympics -forcing children to enter competition to show superiority over the world when they had out played the rest of the contestant. You over-looked the rules and cheated the system. In addition you talk about harmony as your quote in the Olympics.

Harmony… and yet you are invading Vietnam’s land. Vietnam Invaded Cambodia because they have seen the disgusting act demonstrated by their own movement upon educated people. Killing thousands of children, adults and the elderly who has been educated for what? You say they can’t fight us….IT IS MORE LIKE, THEY DO NOT WANT TO FIGHT US BECAUSE WE ARE AT PEACE.

You claim we are invading, yet you are sending soldiers closer to our door. You claim we are invading…. yet other countries such as Japan, Philippines and Taiwan are having tensions with you to? WE are invading? If we are invading… why isn’t other countries having tensions with us?

It’s clear to everyone, that every person who tries to support China in any form on this media have said statement such as ‘you will pay’ or ‘ you are invading, it is your fault’ Not one Chinese-supporter has said anything regarding peace or shown any sympathy towards the matter. There has been countless Vietnamese people asking to show friendship and companionship, love for human and people. However not one ounce of love has been shown from Chinese-supporters.

        Keep that in mind.

U.S abandoned South Vietnam. China has always been a bigger country with more people since ancient time, ( almost tenfold in population), and invaded Vietnam out of greed. Although occupied by China at times, vietnam was always able to drive the Chinese out at the end. China is known by the world as an aggressor and greedy country. So China maybe very strong with its big military, but it never earn the respect of people from around the world.

A powerful angel took him up and showed him the cities of America and informed him that all these would burn in one day. When will the Russian strike occur? Immediately after the giant California earthquake. Russia will launch 3 emp’s and the following atomic rocket strike will last three days and three nights (E R Lindsey 1958 Prophecy). But when will Russia strike? According to Dumitru Dudumen ‘When America goes to war with China, Russia will strike without warning.”

After the nuclear strike millions of Chinese infantry will pour into the west coast, killing, raping all, having mercy on none (The Hordes of Hell are Marching).. America will be pushed to the Nevada Desert where the greatest man battle in history will occur. I have had dreams of the Chinese on the shore, they were shoulder to shoulder as far as the eye could see and 1/2 km deep. Km’s ahead of this mass mob the reconnaisance line will be formed of APC’s spaced about 50 feet apart and going (again) as far as the eye can see. 3 reconnaisance soldiers will run by each APC. If this dream is accurate this is what will come upon America.

  30. If Vietnamese communist really wants to save Vietnam from China’s invasion, they can do it, by changing the regime back to Vietnam Cong Hoa or something other than Communism. If Vietnam did that, China have no reason to invade Vietnam and claim (Rob) The territory, because Vietnam Cong Hoa never signed any agreement to give up lands to China during the war between the north/South of Vietnam.

The North Vietnam leader Pham Van Dong somehow agreed to give up the two islands in the South if the North won the war. It’s a joke when Pham Van Dong agreed to give up the land to China when he didn’t even own.

However, after North took over the south, China then jump in and asking the North to fulfill the promise, that’s exactly what happened today. The whole thing is just a joke and it’s only happen in communist countries.

One guy name Ly Tong has some suggestion and I think it’s a brilliant idea, He suggestion was, if Vietnamese communist especially those in Air Force still have the heart for their own country ,they can save their mother land from China’s invasion easily. They just simply deploy 3 jets, one fly over the China Oil rig
and fire the missile to burn the hell out of the oil rig, the other two jets, fly straight to China’s Three Gorges Dam and fire couple missile to destroy the damp. If the Three Gorges Dam in china got destroyed, you can imagine
what is the impact to China ?? It’s a biggest disaster for China. It’s going to be much much bigger than tsunami in Japan.

I hope China is going to get this message and rethink their greediness and illegal invasion (robbing) Vietnam and other countries.

I also hope all countries in world would stop doing business with China, especially US. And Europe union pull all manufacturing back to US. To create Jobs for their own people and the mean time weakening China’s power and paralyze the economy so China is forced to stop invading other countries illegally.
