- 1792 – The Home Secretary authorises Governor Phillip to make land grants to civil and military officers.
- 1874 – Crawford Vaughan, Premier of South Australia from 1915–1917, is born in Adelaide.
- 1995 – The Australian Aboriginal Flag and the Torres Strait Islander Flag (pictured with Australian flag) are proclaimed as official Flags of Australia.
